So who is Momo?

Molokai, Hawaii 2017

Meet Momo also known as Mona    😊

I have great passion in learning about other cultures, exploring, traveling and at the same time collecting memories with my loved ones who travel with me.

WELCOME! My name is Mona Liza and I thought that it would be fabulous if you could learn a little bit more about me before you go exploring the rest of my website!  After all, how can you look at all the extraordinary things that I have done, and am going to be doing, without knowing a little bit more about me?! 😊

First off, you must know that I live in San Diego, and am happily married to my one and only sailor.  We are the parents of a handsome almost 5 year old little boy named Michael Blade.  They are both my whole life, and I wouldn’t be who I am today without them!  However, when it comes to traveling, my husband is not a fan, so I simply jet off to faraway destinations with Michael and my mom!

I have been traveling extensively since 2002, but that is not when my true love of travel began.  Starting in high school, I knew that I wanted to see every single country in the world at some point.  I began by studying tourism at my local community college and my first real trip was flying over to Oahu in Hawaii with my mom.

I never looked back after that and have accomplished part of my goal by having visited almost forty countries so far.  Now, I know that I still have a way to go, because there are one hundred and ninety-three countries in all.  However, I am young, so I know that I will make it to most of them at some point!

Now, you may all be wondering how I have managed to see so much in such a short period of time, especially now that I have a little one.  After all, travel can be expensive, right? Not at all...😊

If you can take a little bit of time to plan ahead, and look at different deal websites, you can find amazing vacation destinations for a lot less than you think.  Plus, you can find ways to save a ton of money on flights, accommodations, and more by following the same guidelines.  All you need to do is determine which country interests you the most and start looking for deals for that one.  Then continue with the same steps with the next country on your must-see list.  It’s easier than you think!

So, you can definitely be like me and travel the world without spending a small fortune.

There is one thing that I must bring to your attention though…

RUSSIA.jpg

Moscow, Russia 2019

You may have noticed that I stated that I would get to most of the one hundred and ninety-three countries in the world and not all of them.  The reason for this is that there are certain countries like North Korea, Iraq, and Afghanistan, that are not that safe to visit, and there are a few others that always have health advisories.  These are countries that are currently not on my list, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that they cannot be on yours.

However, I do recommend that you check all the travel advisory sites first and make sure that you are making an informed decision before you finalize any travel plans.  In fact, I always check these travel advisory sites periodically anyway, just to make sure that I am always up to date with my information.

Some of my favorite travel quote inspirations are:

Travel while you're young and able.  Don't worry about the money, just make it work. Experience is far more valuable than money will ever be.

We travel not to escape life. But for life not to escape us.

To travel is to discover that everyone is wrong about other countries. - Aldous Huxley

Life is short and the world is wide.

You should also know that my life isn’t all about travel either!  I love to go sightseeing around San Diego with my son, dine out at local restaurants, spend time out in nature, binge-watch shows on Netflix, sing karaoke, and simply hang out in the sand and the water on a local beach.  Oh, and I LOVE devouring French macarons and other yummy foods and desserts!

See, we have SO much more in common than you ever could have thought!😊

Now that you know more about me, you should probably go and start planning your first, or next, vacation.  While you can choose any of the one hundred and ninety-three countries in the world, as well as all the destinations within them, you may want to start with one of my favorite vacation destinations.  I recommend that you consider Bora Bora, due to their breathtaking beaches, Iceland for the stunning glaciers, or Switzerland for chocolate, yodeling, the Swiss Alps, and so much more.

Once you get back, let me know where you went and how much fun you had.  I can’t wait to live vicariously through your vacations when I am not on one of my own!

Prague, Czech Republic 2017

As tired as we were walking in the beautiful city of Prague, Czech Republic (taken also in 2017), my son and I took a break for a minute to enjoy the views. :)

So what is the purpose of my travel site?

Simply, I want to inspire my readers that traveling can be done regardless of your current status.  You don't have to be rich or have a lot of money to travel. I am not rich, nor did I inherit any type of money.  AND no, I didn't win the lottery (wouldn't that be nice if anyone did though?) as my other friends on Facebook would say, since they would be surprised to see the travel pictures that I post there on either my Facebook cover or on my timeline. I find it funny, when people would ask or say how do I have a lot of money, when in reality, I am just like any middle class person making ends meet by working a 9-5 job. At the moment, I am not working though, because I am home taking care of my son, who is currently in his toddler years! (Let me tell you, the simple answer to get to your dream vacation, is being a good saver! Save, save save... even if it's not a hundred dollars a month, save 50 bucks a month for that adds up!)

A little background about me...

I have been traveling since 2001, and all I could remember was my first initial vacation I took was with my cool mom.  It all started when I saw a travel brochure at a dentist office and I was browsing through the pages and saw some affordable travel deals on Hawaii.  I was then thinking to myself, wow! I would like to go there someday - where I could relax, listen to the waves of the ocean, while drinking a Blue Hawaiian, take some time for myself and enjoy nature at its finest. Then that's when I asked my mom to see if she was willing to go on a vacation with me.  I was surprised when she said yes, and from there on, we decided to take that first Hawaiian vacation to the island of Oahu.  I still have that picture too.

Once we went on that first Hawaiian vacation, the travel bug didn't stop there.  I started dreaming about going on to more destinations. All my "what if" doubts and questions, became a reality and I motivated myself to save money so I can go to more places. Then after that trip to Hawaii, I had the urge to see Europe - such as France, Italy and the United Kingdom, and of course my mom was my travel partner, so we went for that Europe trip as well! It was some of the most memorable experiences in my life and I have those photos to prove that!

The lust for traveling doesn't stop, it's like an addiction... you crave for it and you just want to keep exploring more and more, to basically see what's out there, how people are like in other parts of the world, what kind of food they have and the culture each country has for me is very fascinating. But then again, money plays a big and important factor when you want or plan to travel. Believe me, I know it - as I saved my butt off for years and years to get to the countries I have been wanting to go to!  (Literally, not buying all the fashionable and name brand clothing, shoes and so forth)  Bottom line, my mindset was on saving that money for the next travel vacation and somehow, I did it. YOU can too!

This is where and why I created this site.  My life goals is to inspire others and offer tips and travel resources that you may find helpful, when you plan on traveling. The travel resources I have here are some of the many ways I planned out my vacation and how they helped me save some money as well.  Let's just say, some of these information had made my traveling life easier and convenient in ways that one could possibly imagine!  You may or may not take my travel advice and tips, and that's entirely up to YOU - no hard feelings, seriously! Everything that is on my site as you are reading it, is based upon my past experiences, some travel hacks that I got from other fellow travelers/bloggers as well, and it is up to you, to use them for your own travel needs. I just hope you find them helpful in some way or another.  I have collected some of these resources for my benefit so I can always go back to them, in case if I'm trying to find a travel deal or even anything travel related. Now, I'm sharing it with you. Why not? Sharing is caring! :)

Honestly, I would LOVE for EVERYONE to travel, if they are able to.  Trust me on this one, it is very life changing in so many ways and can even change how a person thinks in so many aspects. I believe that life is short, so why not enjoy it! You can definitely do that when you travel.  There is so much to see out there and so much things to experience.  Although, I do respect that there are people out there who aren't into traveling and into other things - and that's fine too.  But why not, give traveling a shot? Maybe you will like it, who knows? Again, I am not here to persuade or force you to do things, but just here to share some of my traveling experiences and tips on how to make traveling life easier and much more convenient.

One of my favorite travel quotes that always inspires me to travel...

Do what makes you happy!

hearts.jpg

Taken in San Francisco International Airport. As you can see, my son was already traveling in diapers since then :)

I am so happy to be able to travel when I can.  I can say I am truly blessed that God has made traveling for me one of the biggest gifts life has to offer.  You only live once, and do what you love! In my case, it's definitely traveling.  Everyone has their own thoughts and opinions about traveling, and I support your  passion no matter what it is. Traveling is definitely a different way of life, and it really does impact everything you do in your everyday life.  Not everyone has the passion for traveling, but if you do or if you have been dreaming about doing it, I'm telling you - now is the time!!! Don't let anything hold you back.  I believe that I was put on this earth to enjoy it and explore it, and I am not gonna die working 9-5 and wait till retirement age to travel. Who knows by then? I may not even be alive by then, so while you're kicking and still capable of doing things, just do it!  I want everyone to enjoy life whatever your dreams and passions are.  It doesn't necessarily have to be traveling.  Maybe you would want to be a doctor, a lawyer a nurse?  Go for the passion. Go for your goals and follow that dream!
